The climb to the Estany de la Nou lake from Andorra la Vella is a difficult route due to the long initial climb of over 1,000 metres.
Part of the route follows the signs of the GRP and it passes the Claror mountain hut.
To get to the beginning of the path, we take the road to La Comella (CS-101) from Andorra la Vella and leave the car in a small car park we will find just after km 4. From here we take a path that climbs to the Prat Primer valley and pass, going past the mountain hut of the same name. After the pass, we will drop down to the Basses Roges and the Claror hut. From this point, we have to follow the markings of the GRP to the La Nou Lake. Unlike the water in other lakes in the Pyrenees, the water in this lake is not completely frozen as it is fed by the underground waters in the subsoil.
The route starts at the La Comella estate (42° 29' 55",01° 31' 49").
For your safety, we recommend you do the routes at altitudes of over 1700 metres between the end of June and the end of September.
You will find further details of this and other routes in the Hiking guide Trails of Andorra.
