Amongst the works of the parish, some created by internationally and nationally renowned artists. We find a reproduction of the Cross of Santa Anna, located in Plaça Santa Anna (the original is in the CAEE, for conservation reasons). The ‘Consell de la Terra i L’Arnaldeta de Caboet’ by Sergi Mas, Tribute to the Santa Anna Dance Group by Ricardo Linde, ‘The winner’s kiss’ by Jean-Louis Toutain...
We highlight some of the works which identify the diversity of works in Escaldes-Engordany, as well as its fountains:

  • La Puntaire

Standing in Sant Pere Màrtir Church Square, this public sculpture by Josep Viladomat reminds us of the image of women who waited for the fishermen to return on the Catalan coast while embroidering cushions. ‘La Puntaire’, or the lacemaker, was sculpted in bronze in 1972, and we can also see it made in plaster at the Escaldes-Engordany Art Centre and in Barcelona in the gardens of Costa i Llovera, on Montjuïc hill.

  • Calidea i la Dama de Gel

Located on the roundabout of the Pont del Pla tunnel, the sculpture of ‘Calidea’ is a figure by the artist Àngel Calvente, inspired in the legends and myths about water.

‘La Dama de gel’, or ice woman, is the work of the artist Philip Lavaill and represents an equestrian figure formed by a horse and a sylph. The sculptural complex is enriched with the water springing forth from Calidea and which is received by the Dama de gel.

And this connection is made in the winter months with the icy water which petrifies the sculpture and gives it a new meaning.

  • Pep, Lu, Canòlic, Ton, Meritxell, Romà, Anna, Pau, Carles, Eugènia, Erik Dietman

A game between art and nature reinterprets the traditional elements out of their context and causes surprise to anyone strolling through the Madriu Valley for the constant changes in this immense work in the Madriu River.

This is a work created in 1991 for the 25th anniversary of the creation of Caixa Andorrana de Seguretat Social.

  • Some of the springs and fountains:

Font del Roc del Metge: a spring of thermal waters coming forth at between 68º and 71ºC.
Font de la Plaça Creu Blanca: a public fountain in granite which is now in the Placeta de l’Esbart Santa Anna.

Font de la Plaça Santa Anna: this was originally located on the facade of the Hotel Pla, but when the square was restructured, it was decided to place it next to Engordany Bridge, where we can find it today.

Font de l’Avinguda de les Escoles: this was installed on the crossroads between the Avinguda Carlemany and Carrer de les Escoles in 1954, and was turned 180º in 2005.
