The Romanesque church of Sant Esteve del Mas d’Alins is a small private chapel.
It's located at 1,425 m alt. on the border between Andorra and the Alt Urgell region, just a few kilometres from the village of Arduix. Sant Esteve del Mas d’Alins is an example of a simple and typically rural rectangular construction.
The stones, shaped with a hammer, are of different types and care was not taken to make sure the walls were well lined up. As a curiosity we see that the apse is narrower than the nave. The complex has no kind of ornamentation, which makes it difficult to date, although it is imagined to be from the first half of the 12th century. The chapel served for cult for the inhabitants of the hamlet of Mas d’Alins, near Fontaneda.
