This travelling exhibition of plastic arts started out in 2014 with the backing of the Cervantes Institute in Frankfurt, and in collaboration with AECID, the MECD and several private entities, in tribute to the multifaceted writer Manuel Vázquez Montalbán, on the 10th anniversary of his death.
The display recalls Manuel Vázquez Montalbán through his most emblematic and best-known character, the detective Pepe Carvalho. Each of the participating artists, which include the Andorran Fiona Morrison and Javier Balmaseda, had to choose a book by Vázquez Montalbán and make a work with what most inspired them in the text. The visitors can use the photographs, engravings, paper, acrylic, graphite and aquarelles to get a personal and polyhedral view of the author and the character.
Among the forty artists taking part: Arranz Bravo, Jaume Plensa, Josep M. Riera i Aragó, José Manuel Ciria, Mäis Menchu Lamas, Amparo Sard and Anna Monzó.
"Manuel Vázquez Montalbán. Pepe Carvalho” can be seen until 18 October 2015 at the government exhibition hall. Entrance free.
